History and Physical Characteristics:
A very dark 76 g stone with little fusion crust was found in Algeria and purchased in Erfoud in October 2007. Petrography (T. Bunch and J Wittke, NAU):
Large, partially melted cumulate basalt clasts are set in a shock melt flow that consists of partially melted basalt fragments and quenched, subophitic microbasalt. The large clasts and fragments are subrounded and show margin resorption. The overall shock level is medium to high (S3-5). Mineral compositions:
Cumulate orthopyroxene is Fs54.3 – 60Wo3.3 -4.9; exsolved augite is Fs25.9Wo45. Plagioclase is An92.9.
