Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R3-6) S1 / W-moderate
Place/Time: 2025 in Mauritania
Mass: 4.2 kg
History: The meteorite was found during a search in northern Mauritania and subsequently purchased by the main mass holder from a local dealer.
Physical characteristics: Light brownish rock with minor fusion crust.
Petrography: Breccia composed of up to 2 cm sized angular to subrounded type 3 and up to 1 cm sized black impact melt clasts in type 6 matrix. Type 3 clasts contain well-defined partly flattened chondrules with an average diameter of about 400 µm; olivine and low-Ca pyroxene are often compositionally unequilibrated. In type 6 clasts, ferroan olivine, diopside, and sodic plagioclase are the predominant mineral phases. Few relict chondrules are present. Opaque phases include troilite and Ti-bearing chromite; no metal detected.
