Classification: Chondrite L5, S3 / W1
Time/Place: May, 2021 in Morocco
History: The meteorite was purchased from a dealer in Algeria.
Physical characteristics: Dark-grayish rock partly covered with fusion crust.
Petrography: The plagioclase grain size is about 30 µm. Contains shock melt veins.
Specimen was not “museum display meteorite” but I seen that its very fresh and in slices it will be cool chondrite.
Slices was both side polished and covered by thin layer of Paraloid (not endpieces). This guarantee that it will never rust or weather. It’s completely sealed out of humidity and oxygen.
In addition, the meteorite was quite fragile and small particles were falling off it. Now nothing comes off.
