Classification: Iron IIIAB
Place/Time: 2018 in Gal, Niger
Mass: 3664g

HISTORY: Consists of a single, flattened mass having a dark brown surface with numerous regmaglypts. Only one ~2×10 mm troilite inclusion is evident on a cut through the interior.
(C. Herd, UAb) Optical investigation of a 4 x 8 cm polished and etched surface reveals a well-developed Widmanstatten pattern consistent with medium octahedrite (1.0±0.3 mm; n=93). A few small troilite inclusions were noted. No alteration is evident.
ICP-MS data, using sample of North Chile (Filomena) as standard (C. Herd and S. DuFrane, UAb): Ni = 6.9, Co = 0.445 (both wt%); Ir = 13, Ga = 18, Ge = 36, As = 3.8, Ru = 13, Pd = 1.2, Re = 1.4, W = 1.2, Pt = 16, Cu = 170, Au = 0.63 (all µg/g).
(C. Herd, UAb): IIIAB iron. Ni is low due to analytical sample size relative to the bulk. Co is low due to analytical uncertainty. Consistent with IIIAB iron based on element-Au plots for Cu, As, Pt, W and Ir, by comparison with Wasson and Richardson (2001).
